Make your Home Safe this Festive Period

With the festive season just around the corner, it’s time to think about how you can help keep your home safe and secure.

Input Joinery’s extensive joinery craftsmanship, along with state of the art technologies, ensure our bespoke timber frames are all built to the highest quality. All our products, including sash windows, bi-folding doors, casement windows and French doors have been tested to make sure they meet the PartQ security requirements set out by the Government.

Here are our top tips for keeping your home safe this December:

Keep gifts out of sight!

With the festive period being the most at risk time of the year, it’s reported that the 17th and 18th of December are the most common nights for burglaries in the UK. As people prepare their Christmas shopping it’s easy to get swept away by the festive cheer, however it’s important to remember to keep presents out of view from prying eyes and away from windows and doors. Ensure windows are locked and consider whether your current windows need an upgrade. Our high-performance timber casement windows and doors are produced using the highest grades of timber and hardware to meet all your home design and safety requirements.

Check your home for weak spots

Longer periods of winter darkness brings increased opportunities for burglars. It’s important to do a visual check on your home to inspect the windows and doors for any potential weak spots and damage. Ask a professional for help if you’re unsure how secure your windows and doors currently are.

If areas of your home are exposed to harsh weather conditions, it may be best to choose our high performance timber 'Stormproof' windows (Enham Range). Incorporating a double rebate system with dual weather-strips, these robust windows further prevent weather ingress which is often the cause of weak spots and damage.

Decorate your home safely

It’s easy to get carried away with the twinkle of Christmas lights and decorations on your home but bear in mind how you are going to power them. Avoid running electrical cables through windows and doors as this can compromise the security of your home. Instead choose lights which can be powered from outside energy sources or choose decorations that don’t need power, also saving energy!

Creating a beautiful looking entrance to your home is easy with our bespoke timber doors. All come fitted with a choice of two Multi-Point Espag Locking systems, which are a modern-day security solution. With colour choices to suit every taste with both traditional and contemporary ironmongery styles available, it’s easy to create a stunning welcome for guests. You can even finish the look off with a fresh foliage wreath!
