In 2014, the Government announced its intention to deliver a radically simplified system, for setting standards in the design and construction of new homes. For the first time, the security of new homes has been given serious weight and importance within Building Regulations, with the recent publication of Part Q. Within the document, the Government has also recognized the BSI published Industry Specification PAS24: 2012 as the focus for the new building requirement applicable to new build properties.
At Input Joinery, our products are currently being tested to these new regulations and guidelines which ensure the product meets the latest Part Q requirements. We are having all of our doors and windows tested in both 'Open In' and 'Open Out' varieties (where applicable), as well as testing the different door panel specifications including;
- Raised and Fielded Panels
- Solid Grooved Panels
- Glazed Panels
What is PAS 24
PAS 24 (Product Assessment Specification) is an enhanced security standard designed to assess whether a door & frame set can withstand a series of measured manual and mechanical tests to withstand the opportunistic intruder for a defined period of time. PAS 24 is recognized by Secured by Design which is the UK Police initiative to reduce burglary and crime by better design solutions
